Amit Shah arrives for BJP's Booth conference in Tirunelveli

Chennai, Aug 22 (UNI) With the crucial 2026 Assembly elections due in 8 months, union Home Minister and BJP's master poll strategist Amit Shah
arrived here today afternoon to address the BJP Booth Committee Conference in southern Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.
Mr Shah landed in Thoothukudi from where he reached Tirunelbeli by helicopter at 1600 hrs.
He was accorded a rousing reception on his arrival from New Delhi by senior BJP leaders who termed his visit would herald a new era in the state in 2026.
After addressing the conference in Tirunelveli from where BJP Tamil Nadu Unit President and BJP Legislature Party Leader Nainar Nagendran hailed,
Mr Amit Shah will leave for New Delhi.
Police have made elaborate security arrangements in view of his visit in the context of DMK's IT Wing putting up posters in Tirunelveli criticising his visit.
From the makeshift helipad , Mr Amit Shah drove down to the residence of Mr Nainar Nagendran, who will be hosting a tea party for him.
At the tea party meeting, Mr Amit Shah was expected to hold crucial dicussions with the State BJP leaders and which he would address the
Booth Committee conference.
The State Unit of the BJP has made elaborate arrangements for the meeting and the venue was tastefully decorated with
fluttering BJP flags, festoons and banners with portraits of Mr Amit Shah, Mr Nagendran and others.
The BJP described the event as a monumental first step, in which one lakh BJP booth committee warriors will assemble in the sacred land
of Lord Murugan in Tiruchendur--one of the six abodes of the Lord--to receive battle-ready electoral training from the master strategist.
Mr Nagendran will preside over the meeting in which booth agents from five Parliamentary constituencies in the southern districts--Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar and Kanniyakumari--will take part.
This will be the first of the series of booth conferences planned by the party in the run up to the Assembly elections for which the BJP
and AIADMK were trying to cobble up a formidable alliance to take on the ruling DMK and oust it from power.
This conference is just the beginning, with more meetings scheduled in Madurai (September 13), Coimbatore (October 26), Salem (November 23), Thanjavur (December 21), Tiruvannamalai (January 4), and Tiruvallur (January 24). National BJP leaders and union Ministers will attend these conference.
In the Tirunelveli conference, Mr Amit Shah, apart from discussing in roping in potential allies, including the PMK, which had left NDA after the 2024
Lok Sabha polls, and the DMDK of late actor-politician Vijayakanth and like-minded parties,. was also unveil a masterplan to empower BJP cadres to defeat the DMK-led alliance in the upcoming assembly elections.
The Tirunelveli booth committee conference will be the cornerstone of a new era, ousting the ruling DMK and paving the way for a people-centric NDA government.
Senior BJP leaders like former Tamil Nadu Unit Presidents Pon Radhakrishnan, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, K Annamalai, union Minister L.Murugan, National Executive Member H. Raja, and Actor Sarathkumar will attend the meeting.
The BJP, trying to gain a foothold in Tamil Nadu, which has been alternatively ruled by Dravidian majors--the DMK and AIADMK over nearly six decades-- commenced its poll preparations commenced by reviving ties with its former ally, the principal Opposition party AIADMK, with Mr Amit Shah himself making the announcement in Chennai, saying the NDA will head the alliance at the National level, the AIADMK will lead it in Tamil Nadu.
As part of strengthening the grass root level and to reinvigorate the party cadres, the BJP is focusing on strengthening the booth committees in every constituency.
"Spanning five Lok Sabha constituencies, including Tirunelveli, and 28 assembly constituencies, this conference will see over one lakh members from 8,595 booth committees attending it.
The BJP will ensure that every household in every booth hears the truth about the Modi-led central government’s transformative welfare schemes and infrastructure projects worth lakhs of crores, which have propelled Tamil Nadu’s development to new heights. "We will expose the DMK’s reign of terror—marked by murders, robberies, sexual violence, drug trafficking, illicit liquor deaths, and crippling electricity and property tax hikes—that has plunged Tamil Nadu into chaos", BJP Spokesperson AN Prasad said.
The BJP will counter the DMK’s vile, baseless propaganda against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central BJP government, awakening voters to the truth. Through media and meticulous election strategies, our booth committee warriors will secure over 50% of the votes, handing a crushing defeat to the DMK in the elections, he said.
